How Furnace Works
A furnace keeps your home warm by heating air and circulating it through your ducts. When your thermostat detects that the temperature has dropped, it signals the furnace to start. In a gas furnace, burners ignite to heat the air, while in an electric furnace, heating coils warm up. This heated air passes through the heat exchanger and is then blown into your home by a fan.
For gas furnaces, the system vents exhaust gases outside. The furnace continues to cycle on and off, maintaining the temperature until the thermostat reaches your desired setting. Regular maintenance ensures your furnace runs efficiently and lasts longer.
